Booking & Working With Us
What payment methods do you accept?
We confirm payment methods when you book, so tell us then if you have a specific one in mind.
Do I need to be home for my appointment?
Yes, for most residential jobs, to give access and walk through the space with us. For rentals and condos, we work with a property manager or building contact instead.
Do you offer a warranty on installation work?
Yes. We offer a one-year warranty as standard, with the coverage set for each project. Installation and repair warranties can differ, so we agree the terms with you before work begins.
Can you match my existing carpet for a repair or patch?
We match fiber, color and pile height as closely as the material allows, using leftover carpet from your original installation or a close equivalent. An exact dye-lot match isn't always possible on older carpet, and we tell you how close the match will be before we start.
How far in advance should I book an appointment?
Lead time depends on the season and job size. Simple cleaning jobs can sometimes be booked within a few days, and larger installations need more notice. Same-day patch and seam repairs are available, depending on scheduling and the repair. We give you a timeline with your quote.
Does Kingston winter weather affect your scheduling?
We work through the Kingston winter. If snow or a cold snap slows travel to an outlying area and affects your appointment, we tell you directly.
Do you offer commercial billing or invoicing for businesses?
Yes. Commercial clients can arrange invoicing instead of paying on the day of service. Ask when you request a quote for your business.
What if I'm not satisfied with the finished work?
Tell us before the crew leaves, so we fix it on site. If something isn't right later, call us, and the one-year warranty for your project applies.
Carpet Care Questions
Do I need a permit to install carpet in my Kingston home?
No. Replacing carpet in an already-finished room does not typically need a building permit in Kingston. Finishing an unfinished basement needs a building permit for the finishing work, not for the carpet. A heritage permit covers exterior changes to designated properties and work in heritage conservation districts, and interiors only when the designation protects interior features. If your home is designated, ask the City's Heritage Planning office. Condo buildings set their own rules.
How do I prepare a room before your crew arrives?
Clear small items, breakables and anything fragile from the room. We move light furniture only, so clear larger pieces such as sofas, beds and dressers before we arrive. Tell us what's in the room when you book so we can plan the day.
What's the real difference between broadloom and carpet tile?
Broadloom is wall-to-wall carpet cut from 12-foot rolls and stretched edge to edge, so it looks more uniform. Carpet tile is modular squares, and a worn tile lifts out and replaces. Tile copes better with a cool or slightly damp slab, but no carpet, tile or pad fixes water coming through the slab, so we check the slab first.
Is carpet padding the same thing as underlay?
Yes. Padding, underlay and underpad all name the cushion between subfloor and carpet that adds comfort and insulation and helps carpet wear evenly. The exception is underlayment, which can also mean a plywood or hardboard layer over the subfloor.
Is new carpet smell normal?
Yes. A mild smell from new carpet, pad and any adhesive in the first few days is normal and fades on its own. Fresh air and running fans for 48-72 hours after installation clear it faster.
What happens to the old carpet you remove?
We haul it away. Removal and disposal of old carpet, pad and tack strip cost $0.50-$1.00 per sq ft. It appears as its own line in your itemized quote.
Should I clean my carpet myself, or hire a professional cleaner?
Hire a professional for a deep clean once a year, and vacuum between cleans. Homes with pets or heavy foot traffic may need cleaning more often. A professional hot-water extraction clean gets more out of the carpet than a rented consumer machine, especially in entryways and high-traffic rooms that take on winter grit.
How long does carpet typically last with normal care?
We usually see residential carpet last 8-15 years with normal care, and the exact lifespan depends on the manufacturer. Carpet grade, pad quality and foot traffic move it within that range. Ripples or loose carpet from seasonal humidity swings are a restretching job, not a sign the carpet is finished.
