We choose commercial carpet for durability and wear as much as for color and style. A retail floor or building lobby takes more foot traffic than a home, so we factor traffic level into both the product recommendation and the installation approach.
In a multi-tenant building, we plan access, common-area protection and phasing with building management before install day. A shared loading dock or freight elevator is booked in advance before material and equipment come in. Hallways, lobbies and other common areas the carpet passes through are protected with floor covering for the move-in, and old carpet removed from the space needs a clear path out to a dumpster or disposal bin.
When several units or floors are carpeted on the same project, we phase the work floor by floor or unit by unit so other areas stay in use. This matters in buildings that stay partly occupied during a renovation, where some tenants are moving in while others are still operating day to day.
